Dafeng Mountain Scenic Area

Dafeng Mountain Scenic Area Located within Xingxi Township, about 10 kilometers east of the city and standing at an elevation of 1,209 meters, it is one of the three most renowned Taoist mountains in the area. Ancient texts record that during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, Zhao Yuanqi, the drum master of Pengzu, cultivated immortality and ascended to heaven here. He once said, “If you fear not the strong wind, then the great mountain can be climbed,” hence later generations named it “Dafeng” (Great Wind). The mountain features five peaks standing side by side, which ancient records describe as “strikingly similar to the Five Elders Peaks of Mount Lu.” At the summit lies an immortal hall, offering a close view of the county town and a distant glimpse of Zhanlu. Other attractions include the Lingquan Dragon Well, the Ascension Cliff, a stone statue of the Yuan Dynasty eminent monk Sizhou Chan Monk, and three cow hoof prints left by the Heavenly Empress Wei Furen, who rode a cow and toured the mountain with the Grand Empress Dowager Huang. For these reasons, the mountain is also called Taomu Mountain, and it is one of several Taomu Mountains in Fujian.
