Scenic Spots & Historic Sites: There are numerous scenic spots and historic sites in the area. To the southeast lies Donggong Mountain, where overlapping peaks rise high into the sky, resembling a lotus flower; the Nine-Tier Waterfall cascades down with a thunderous roar; bizarre rocks and peculiar caves are scattered all over, making it a “paradise of bliss” as referred to by Taoists. The area features a total of 85 scenic spots, including 36 large and small caves. Folklore tells the moving story of two immortals, Wei and Yu, who refined elixirs and ascended to heaven here, making it one of the five major natural scenic areas in Zhenghe County. In 1936, Ye Fei led the Mindong Red Army and Huang Ligui led the Minbei Red Army to join forces on Donggong Mountain, establishing a revolutionary base and leaving behind the famous revolutionary site known as the “Donggong Mountain Joint Conference.” After the completion of the Zhenghe Jiucengji Hydropower Station, even more attractions were added.

Cultural Features: Yangyuan boasts a long-standing cultural heritage, a wealth of literati, abundant cultural legacies, and a simple, unsophisticated folk culture. Historical figures such as Zhu Xi and Zhao Di left behind calligraphic works in Donggong Mountain. The mural of the Theater God inside the Yingjie Temple, a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit, has been recorded in the Chinese Opera Chronicles. The “Siping Opera” has been included in the national intangible cultural heritage protection list. Yangtou Village is honored as the “Sacred Land of the Mindong-Northeast Red Army Meeting.”

Special Economy: The township is home to 35,000 mu of cone-shaped chestnuts, 50,000 mu of small-diameter bamboo, 5,360 mu of tea plantations, 7,300 mu of off-season vegetables, and 100,000 square meters of rare fungi. In 2007, 1,000 mu of fragrant “Honghua Dajinyuan” tobacco was successfully introduced. In 2006, the township achieved a total industrial and agricultural output value of 74.3 million yuan, including 50.3 million yuan from agriculture and 24 million yuan from industry. Local fiscal revenue reached 382,000 yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 2,122 yuan.
