The Tortoise-Calming Pagoda is located in Chengyuan Village, Chengyuan Township, Zhenghe County, and dates back to the Ming Dynasty.

Chengyuan Village: Chengyuan Village is situated in Chengyuan Township, which is the farthest, highest-altitude, largest in area, and most populous township in Zhenghe County. Chengyuan Village serves as the township seat and lies at its center. The village currently has 1,400 households and a population of 4,300, comprising 13 villager groups including the Dongdalou natural village. Established during the Xiantong era of the Tang Dynasty, the village was originally settled by the Xu family who migrated from Shangyang Village, and was then called Tingyang Village. In the fourth year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1865), it was renamed Chengyuan Village.
