Ninghe Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Ninghe County Martyrs' Cemetery is situated on the eastern side of Lutai Town. It was built in October 1969 and underwent reconstruction in December 2005, spanning more than 15,000 square meters. The site includes a 2,755-square-meter memorial square, the tomb of martyr Yuli Yizhou, a statue of martyr Yuli Yizhou, an urn hall, a black marble martyrs' wall, and the Yuli Yizhou Martyrs Memorial Hall, whose plaque was inscribed by Deng Yingchao. The cemetery is shaded by lush pines and cypresses and green trees. Among the foliage of dozens of varieties of plants, the 270 martyrs’ tombs laid to rest here appear especially solemn and respectful.

The people of Ninghe have a proud tradition of resisting aggression and demonstrated indomitable fighting spirit in battles against Japanese invaders and the reactionary Kuomintang. They participated in the Great Ji-Dong Uprising and organized anti-Japanese armed forces. During the Ji-Dong war period, 38 such individuals… Of these martyrs, 500 fought during the Liberation War. Under the leadership of the military district, they formed the Ninghe Brigade, which took part in over 100 battles including the attack on Xinh River Shipyard, the Nanhu blocking battle, the Zhaozhuang ambush, and the Miaozhuang ambush, dealing heavy blows to the enemy’s arrogance.

The cemetery currently houses the remains of 926 martyrs, including 621 named martyrs (525 from Ninghe and 96 from outside Ninghe) and 305 unnamed martyrs. Among them, 60 died during the Anti-Japanese War and the Korean War, while 23 lost their lives in peacetime. There are soldiers from the East China Field Army who fought in the storming of Zhongshan under wind and rain during the Liberation War, officers and soldiers of the 44th Army who achieved repeated victories in the Liaoshen Campaign, and non-local Ninghe martyrs who sacrificed heroically for the liberation of all China. In the early days of the Communist Party of China, the renowned revolutionary, outstanding Communist Party member, and distinguished patriot Yufangzhou, also a martyr, rests here.

The cemetery adheres to simple yet impactful exhibition methods, detailed displays, excellent guiding skills, and round-the-clock accessibility, making it an important site for patriotic education among the general public, especially the youth. It is a municipal cultural relics protection unit and a municipal volunteer service base. In 1994, it was named a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
