The Hulin Mountain Site

The Hulin Mountain Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Hulin Mountain Site is located in Zhangshan Village, Chaoyang Town, Longwen District, Zhangzhou City, dating back to the Bronze Age.

Introduction: The site covers an area of over 6,000 square meters and dates back approximately 3,000–3,200 years. In 2001, rescue archaeological excavations were carried out here, with a total excavation area of 2,314 square meters. Cultural layers dating to the equivalent of the Shang Dynasty in Central China were unearthed, along with 20 tombs. Artifacts recovered include stone tools, pottery, as well as a small number of bronze ware, jade artifacts, ritual objects, and stone zhangs. This site was selected as one of the Top Ten Important Archaeological Discoveries in Fujian Province.

In 2013, the Hulin Mountain Site was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected Area: The boundary is defined by the connecting lines of GPS coordinates at various directions. Northeast corner: 24°32′11″N, 117°43′23″E; Southeast corner: 24°32′4″N, 117°43′20″E; Northwest corner: 24°32′14″N, 117°43′12″E; Southwest corner: ① 24°32′10.00″N, 117°43′14.00″E; ② 24°32′11.00″N, 117°43′11.00″E.

Chaoyang Subdistrict: Established in March 1997, Chaoyang Town covers an area of 42.2 square kilometers, making it the largest township in Longwen District. It governs 17 administrative villages, one community residents' committee, and five town-owned agricultural (forestry) farms, with a permanent population of 39,800. Located in the northern part of Longwen District, it is an emerging industrial and trade town in the district. [1]

The town is situated in the northern part of the jurisdiction, bordering Bangshan Town of Longhai City to the east, adjacent to National Highway 319 to the west, neighboring Lantian Town to the south, and facing Guokeng Town across the southern bank of the Jiulong River's North Branch to the north.
