The Xiaguan Stone Tower Complex

The Xiaguan Stone Tower Complex is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Xiaguan Stone Tower Complex is located in Xiaguan Village, Guokeng Town, Longwen District, Zhangzhou City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: It consists of the Yaoxing Tower, Yuewang Tower, and Chengze Tower. The Yaoxing Tower was built in the Bingchen year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1736), and comprises a red brick courtyard, mountain gate, surrounding wall, sky yard, the Yaoxing Tower itself, as well as side and rear wing rooms; the Yaoxing Tower is a square two-story building with a stone-framed gate, featuring a stone plaque inset in the lintel, inscribed in regular script with the characters “Yaoxing Tower” in relief, and signed “Spring of Bingchen Year, Qianlong Reign, Yang Xuan.” The Yuewang Tower was built in the Gengchen year of the Kangxi reign (1700), with a construction area of 225 square meters, also a square two-story building. The first floor’s front hall has a wooden staircase leading to the second floor. The stone-framed gate bears an inset plaque reading “Yuewang Tower,” signed “Kangxi Gengchen Year.” The Chengze Tower was built in the eighth year of the Qianlong reign (1743). Its main structure is a two-story building, featuring a central courtyard surrounded by four wings, totaling 24 rooms.

In 2013, the Xiaguan Stone Tower Complex was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: A 20-meter buffer zone extends outward from the perimeter of the Yaoxing Tower, Yuewang Tower, and Chengze Tower.

Guokeng Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Longhai City. Established as Weixing Commune in 1958, it was placed under Buwen Commune in 1959, then split off as Guokeng Commune in 1962, and became a town in 1984. Located in the northwestern part of the city, on the northern bank of the lower reaches of the Jiulong River’s Beixi tributary. It covers an area of 367 square kilometers with a population of 20,000. The Yingxia Railway and the Zhangzhou–Changtai Highway pass through the town. It administers three neighborhood committees—Xinjie, Shuishang, and Railway—and seven village committees: Luobin, Fuyao, Huangqing, Yuanhou, Guokeng, Xipu, and Koushe.
