The Wushé Zhǒng Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Anhui Province.

Dating from the Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty, the site is located 20 kilometers northwest of Lixin County, 500 meters northeast of Miaoli Natural Village in Sunmiao Township, on the southern bank of Zhugang River. The site is mound-shaped, covering an area of 30,000 square meters. It is named after the Wushé tomb located here. The cultural accumulation layer on the mound is 3.8 meters thick, while that beneath the mound is 1.8 meters (as seen in the river embankment profile). One hundred meters south of the mound, remnants of earthen city walls still exist, stretching 140 meters from east to west, with a base width of 3 meters and standing about half a meter above the ground. Ancient wells, stove remains, and other relics have been found on the northern side of the wall. In the 1960s, stone axes, bone needles, pottery net weights, burned clay, and other artifacts were discovered here. Since 1980, a large number of cultural relics have been collected from the surface, which experts have identified as belonging to the late Dawenkou Culture. The upper layers also contain relics from the Eastern Zhou to the Han Dynasty. This site holds significant value for preservation and academic research. On October 28, 2004, it was designated as a fifth batch provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People’s Government of Anhui Province.

Protected Area: The area covered by the Wushé Zhǒng Site extends 350 meters eastward from the north-south ditch to the west, and 300 meters southward from the Old Mother Pig River embankment (including the embankment itself) to the north.

Construction Control Zone: A 50-meter buffer zone surrounding the protected area.

Sunmiao Township: Located in the western part of Lixin County, Sunmiao Township lies east of Provincial Highway Fuyang–Woyang and is traversed by the Jieshou–Fuyang–Bengbu Expressway. It governs 26 village committees and 146 natural villages, covering a total area of 64 square kilometers, including 3,833 hectares of arable land. In 1998, the total population was 44,051, of which 43,138 were rural residents. The township government is based in Sunmiaoji, 20 kilometers from the county seat of Lixin. The ancient Wushé Zhǒng cultural site is located within the township.
