Ji's Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Lixin County.

Ji's Pagoda

Located 19.5 kilometers northwest of Lixin County, 700 meters southeast of Suncun Village in Sunji Town, and 100 meters west of Ji-. It was built in the fifth year of the Jiaqing reign during the Qing Dynasty (1800) as a small tomb pagoda. The pagoda has seven stories and six sides, with a hexagonal base where each side is 1.48 meters long, and stands approximately 10 meters tall. The pagoda once had a temple, which has since been destroyed. This is a brick pagoda designed to imitate wooden structures. The first story is about 2.2 meters high, with each successive level decreasing slightly in height from the bottom up. On the second and third stories, at the outer eaves and at the corners where the hexagon transitions, there are protruding brick cornices and overhanging eaves. A bluestone stele is embedded in the southeastern wall of the first story, 64 centimeters above ground level; the stele is 42 cm high and 82 cm wide. The inscriptions on the stele are unclear, but the signature at the bottom can still be read as “the fifth year of Jiaqing, composed by Li ××, a successful candidate in the imperial examinations from Mengcheng.” On the second story, a bluestone plaque is embedded in the center of one side, engraved with the four clerical script characters “Fang Ming Yong Chui” (Fame Lasts Forever). From the third to the seventh story, each level features a central arched niche facing the southeast. The pagoda has no windows and is hollow inside, with no central pillar. Each level is supported only by cross-shaped horizontal wooden beams forming a “ten” pattern. The top of the pagoda is a green-and-red glazed gourd-shaped finial, reinforced through the center with an iron rod. The entire pagoda is exquisitely delicate and is generally well preserved. It is the smallest ancient pagoda still existing in the province. It is a county-level key cultural relic protection unit.

Sunji Town: Sunji Town is located 17 kilometers northwest of Lixin County and borders Zhangcun Town, Xipanlou Town, and Jiwangchang Township — two towns and one township — while facing Wangshi Town across the Xi Fei River. It was formed in 1992 by merging Sunji Township and Liuying Township from the former Sunji District. The town covers a total area of 65 square kilometers, with 58,000 mu of cultivated land.
