Located 18 kilometers west of the county seat, in Baimiao Village, Zhangcun Town, the tomb mound is tall and covers an area of approximately 300 square meters. Liu Ting, courtesy name Shengwu, was a native of Nanchang and the son of Liu Xian, a military governor in the early Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty. He followed his father into battle, fought bravely, and rose through the ranks from garrison commander to regional commander due to his military achievements. Having experienced countless battles, he was considered the most valiant among all the generals. In the 47th year of the Wanli era (1619), he engaged in a major battle with Qing forces at Arilidagang. Due to unfamiliar terrain, he was attacked from both sides by Qing troops and was killed in action. Liu Ting’s death shocked the entire court. His steel blade weighed over 60 kilograms and he could wield it swiftly on horseback, earning him the nickname “Liu the Big Sword.” In the early days of the Tianqi era, he was posthumously awarded the title of Junior Guardian.
