Liujiaji Martyrs' Cemetery

Located 12.5 kilometers northeast of the county town and 60 meters west of Liujiaji Street. The cemetery covers an area of 3,600 square meters. Behind the monument, there are five rows of graves running from north to south, with five graves in each row from east to west, totaling 25 martyr tombs. On May 11, 1948, the 11th Regiment of the Henan-Anhui-Su Border Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (formerly known by the code name Longshan Unit), after analyzing the enemy situation, received an order via telegram from the Sixth Sub-district to head north to strike the newly formed 74th Division of the enemy and coordinate with the upcoming Central China Field Army’s Eastern Henan Campaign. En route, they temporarily stayed in the areas of Liuran, Dai Zhuang, Zhang Zhuang, and Xu Zhuang in Liuran Town, Liujiaji. - The newly formed 74th Division had over 1,200 troops stationed at the Dongji stronghold in Wangtuan and launched searches and attacks toward our position. After observing the enemy, the 11th Regiment of the Border Region immediately ordered the troops to block the enemy from three sides. After a full day of fierce fighting, victory was ultimately achieved. To commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the battle, in 1983, the People’s Government of Lixin County built a martyrs' cemetery at the southern end of Liujiaji. Due to the small area of the original cemetery, which could no longer meet the needs of development, in 1999, the Lixin County Government decided to relocate the cemetery to a new site. This martyrs' cemetery serves as a patriotic education base for the county. Every year on Tomb-Sweeping Day, numerous officials, masses, and young students come to pay their respects, mourn, and honor the martyrs.
