Lixin County Martyrs' Cemetery

Lixin Martyrs' Cemetery was originally named the Lují Martyrs' Monument and is located in Lují, about 20 kilometers from the county town. It is the final resting place of the remains of seven martyrs, including Zhu Jumin, who sacrificed their lives for the country during the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War. They gave their young and precious lives on the smoke-filled battlefields, shedding blood and laying down their heads. In 1984, the county government funded the construction of the site, and in December 2003, the county government renovated and expanded it, renaming it Lixin County Martyrs' Cemetery. The entire cemetery is 110 meters long and 90 meters wide, with a 10-meter-high monument that is majestic and solemn in its simple design. Nestled against a “mountain” and beside water, it is shaded by pine and cypress trees and filled with fragrant blossoms. It embodies both the solemn dignity of a memorial park and the beautiful serenity of a garden, combining the functions of commemoration and sightseeing. Wang Guangyu, former Deputy Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial People's Congress, inscribed the monument with the words: “Eternal Glory to Revolutionary Martyrs!” Zheng Rui, former Deputy Director of the Provincial People's Congress, wrote the name of the cemetery. It serves as a patriotic education base for local youth in Lixin County.
