Bamboo Sound Temple

Bamboo Sound Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located in Tangdian Town, YingShang County, it was originally named Guanyin Temple and was first built in the second year of the Daoguang reign (1822). It was rebuilt in 1901. The temple got its name because on clear, moonlit nights, golden lights were said to shimmer around the temple and the sound of bamboo could be heard continuously, which people found quite miraculous. The entire temple complex consists of two architectural areas: the Hall of Heavenly Kings and the Mahavira Hall. On either side of the main hall are bell towers, drum towers, and a stone statue of Maitreya Buddha. The temple grounds also feature a liberation pond, an ancient sacred well, a chess-playing pavilion, a scripture-reciting hall, a thousand-bird garden, a vegetarian residence, a hundred-flower garden, and a bonsai garden.
