The ruins of Xifeng Temple are a cultural relic protection unit of Huangshan City.

The ruins of Xifeng Temple are located in Gangshang Village, Shanli Town, Qimen County, dating from the Tang to Qing dynasties.

Legend has it that in the third year of the Guanghua era of the Tang Dynasty (900), the monk Qingsu from Mount Wutai planted his tin staff firmly on the hilltop. A local man named Zheng built the Staff-Planting Pavilion, Xifeng Pagoda, and temple for him. King Yang Xingmi of Wu bestowed upon it the name “Shangyuan Baolin Chan Temple,” which had over a hundred rooms. It was rebuilt in the seventeenth year of the Jiaqing era (1812) and the fourteenth year of the Daoguang era (1824). Later it fell into ruin, leaving behind a bronze tripod, an iron flute, and a tin staff. Today, the pagoda foundation still remains, and the sarira of the Tang Dynasty monk Qingsu is buried beneath the pagoda.

Gangshang Village: Located in the northern part of Shanli Town, bordering Ruokeng Township to the east, adjacent to Shanli and Wentang villages within the town to the south, neighboring Xin’an Town to the west, and backed by Shitai County to the north. The village administers 16 villager groups, with over 600 households and more than 2,000 residents. It currently has 62,484 mu of mountain land, 1,532 mu of arable land, 668 mu of paddy fields, and 2,366 mu of tea plantations.
