Wang Fu (1692–1759), originally named Xuan, with the courtesy name Canren, and the pseudonyms Shuangchi and Chongsheng, was a native of Wuyuan, Anhui. He was an accomplished scholar during the early years of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty and was renowned for his broad knowledge across the southeast. Wang Fu lived a life of simplicity and diligence, continuously engaging in scholarly pursuits, although he did not focus on the imperial examinations and instead devoted himself to teaching. Endowed with remarkable intelligence from a young age, he initially learned the Four Books and Five Classics from his mother, Madam Jiang, and had memorized them all by the age of eight. From then on, he studied under his mother's guidance and never had a formal teacher. At the age of 23, after his mother passed away, Wang Fu went to Jinling to join his father, who was stranded there, but was not welcomed by him.
