Liuyin Park
Liuyin Park is located at No. 8 Huangsi Street, Anwai, Dongcheng District, Beijing. Covering an area of 17.47 hectares, including 6.25 hectares of water surface, it is the only park in Beijing that offers a rustic mountain-village charm.
The site was originally a group of kiln pits, transformed into a lake in 1958, and then turned into a park in 1948.
This park has two major features:
First is the gathering of famous willows. The park is planted with over 70 varieties of trees, including dragon claw willow, silver sprout willow, drought willow, weeping willow, steamed bun willow, osier willow, twisted willow, and river willow—making it the best place to admire willows.
Second is the pastoral scenery. The park features four themed scenic areas representing spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Based on different plant arrangements, it is naturally divided into five zones: Spring Garden, Summer Garden, Autumn Garden, Winter Garden, and Spring-Remaining Island. Especially notable is the “You Yi Cun” (Another Village) area on the west side of the park, which embodies the poetic imagery “Mountains and valleys stretch ahead as if there’s no way out, but then willows and flowers brighten into another village.” It condenses the image of a mountain village at the foot of nature into a small garden, highlighting rural charm and capturing the essence of countryside freshness and pastoral beauty.
The park features bamboo fences, straw pavilions, lotus ponds, willow shelters, spring blossoms, and autumn fruits, resembling a paradise on earth. Looking across the water, simple farmhouses with white walls and gray tiles are tucked among green trees. At sunset, the park glows golden with reeds and ripening rice, while pleasure boats drift by and music fills the air, evoking the simplicity of rural life. The park also frequently hosts events on ecological conservation, science and technology, school admissions, and home exchange fairs.
The houses feature gray-tiled white walls and winding stone paths, exuding a distinct Jiangnan-style pastoral ambiance.
Today, the park boasts graceful willow groves that reflect the beauty of all four seasons.
