Chen Fengxian’s Residence

Chen Fengxian’s Residence is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

Chen Fengxian’s Residence is located in Jixi County, Xuancheng City, and dates back to the Ming Dynasty. It sits within the Ziyuan Garden at Shangmashi in Huayang Town, covering an area of 60 square meters. Originally situated on the west side of the midsection of the old street in Kongling Village, Linxi Town, the location was not suitable for the building’s protection. In 2005, it was relocated to Ziyuan Garden at Shangmashi in Huayang Town for off-site preservation. The residence occupies 60 square meters, faces east, and features a brick-and-timber structure with a flush-gable roof. It is a two-story building with three bays in width and two bays in depth. The wooden structures inside, including the balustrade on the second floor known as the "beauty's lean," are exquisitely carved, making it a typical example of Ming Dynasty Hui-style architecture with significant cultural value. In 2000, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage site under approval document Ji Zheng [2000] No. 31. In 2017, it was listed as a municipal-level cultural heritage site under approval document Xuan Zheng Mi [2017] No. 45.

In 2019, Chen Fengxian’s Residence was announced by the People’s Government of Anhui Province as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites.

The town administers five community neighborhood committees and four village committees, covering an area of 83 square kilometers with a population of 43,000. It has 490 hectares of arable land, including 337 hectares of paddy fields.
