Minglun Hall Examination Shed

The Minglun Hall Examination Shed is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

A provincial-level cultural heritage site, located within the campus of Jixi Middle School at the northern end of Shizhi Road in Jixi County. It faces south and consists of several main sections: the entrance hall, courtyard, waiting area, examination shed, and Minglun Hall. The building covers a floor area of 375 square meters. The entrance hall has three bays on the front, shaped like an inverted "V", with the main gate in the center and stone drums standing facing each other on the east and west sides. Behind the entrance hall is a corridor. The waiting area is five bays wide and two bays deep, featuring a flush-gable roof with horse-head walls sealing the gables. The interior employs a full-column through-tenon structure, using eave-brackets to support the overhanging eaves. Decorative elements such as sparrow braces, beam supports, and diagonal braces are intricately carved. The examination shed is located on the east and west sides behind the waiting area, facing the courtyard, and consists of several individual rooms. The front and partition walls are fitted with wooden lattice doors and leather doors respectively. It is the only remaining example of an ancient examination field in Anhui Province. In 1997, it was designated as a key cultural heritage site at the county level, under approval document Jizheng [1997] No. 35. In June 2012, it was elevated to provincial-level protection and incorporated into the provincial-protected Jixi Confucius Temple, under approval document Wan Zheng Mi (2012) No. 300.
