Lausu Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Jixi County.

It is situated on the Huixi River at Sanmenting on the west gate of Huayang Town, about 100 meters from Huixi Road. This five-arch stone bridge stretches 40 meters in total length, is 4 meters wide, and 4 meters high. The piers are constructed from block stones, and the deck is laid with strip stones. The upstream side is equipped with cutwaters. Oriented east-west, it spans the Huixi River. Engraved in raised regular script on the central arch of the second span from the west is the name “Lausu Bridge.”

According to the Jixi County Annals: During the Song Dynasty, Su Zhe served as an official in Jixi. His elder brother, the scholar Su Dongpo, traveled from Hainan to visit him, and local officials and gentry came to welcome him here—hence the bridge’s name. Originally called Lausu Ferry, it was during the Song Dynasty that Ge Yanjing built the bridge and erected a pavilion to its east. In the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty, Magistrate Yu Lan ordered the local resident Ge Yan to raise funds for its reconstruction. During the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, residents again pooled resources for repairs, with Ge Yinghao contributing to paving the bridge deck. In 1958, when constructing a cart road from Huayang to Huixi, this bridge was utilized, and the pavilion was demolished. In 1972, the government allocated funds for its restoration. Another renovation took place in 1999. In 2000, it was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of the county, with approval document number Jizheng [2000] No. 31.

Huayang Town: Huayang Town is an ancient town with a history of two thousand years. It now serves as the seat of the Jixi County government and is the political, economic, and cultural center of the county. The town administers 5 community neighborhood committees and 4 village committees, covering an area of 83 square kilometers with a population of 43,000. It currently has 490 hectares of arable land, including 337 hectares of paddy fields.
