Le'an Pavilion

Le'an Pavilion is a cultural relic protection unit of Jixi County.

Le'an Pavilion

Located 0.5 kilometers northeast of Wangchuan Village, Shangzhuang Town, it is a necessary passageway from Wangchuan to Sihou Village. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, the road pavilion faces east-west, stands 5 meters high, is 5.1 meters wide, and 4.4 meters long, covering an area of 25 square meters. The entire structure is built with granite slabs and blocks, featuring a rectangular floor plan, straight walls, and an arched roof, topped with earthen fill. Both the east and west sides have arched doorways framed by granite lintels and door frames. The west-facing lintel bears a stone plaque inscribed with: “Le'an Pavilion, the first year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1573), built by descendants of Cao Yongfu.” The east-facing reverse side is inscribed with the construction date and the names of those who built the pavilion. The west-facing reverse side is inscribed with “Repaired in the 24th year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, April (1759).” The middle section of the northern wall features a niche window, while the lower parts of the north and south straight walls are equipped with granite benches. The floor is also paved with granite slabs. This road pavilion is still in use today, providing travelers with a place to rest and shelter from wind and rain. It remains well-preserved and holds certain cultural relic value. In 2011, it was announced as a sixth-batch county-level cultural relic protection unit, with approval document number Jizheng [2011] No. 46.

Wangchuan Village: Wangchuan Village is located in the mountainous hinterland of northern Jixi County, 35 kilometers from the county seat. Backed by the Dahuishan Mountain and traversed by the Kunxi River, which originates from the foothills of Dahuishan and flows eastward through the village, it is surrounded by mountains and boasts flat terrain. It currently administers natural villages including Wangchuan, HuiChuan, Baojia, Shanglian, and Shijia, with ten villager groups and eight villager subgroups. The population is 3,950, covering a total area of 24 square kilometers, including 3,300 mu of arable land and over 21,000 mu of mountainous land.
