The Monument to Martyr Xu Jiapeng is a cultural relic protection unit of Jixi County and a classic red tourism attraction.

Located atop Shewu Mountain in Kantou Village, Jiapeng Township, the site covers an area of 500 square meters. The monument is built from interlocking granite blocks with a rectangular cross-section and stands 12 meters high. Its eastern face features the raised inscription “Eternal Glory to the Heroic Martyr Xu Jiapeng,” while the western face describes the martyr's heroic acts. The towering structure stands at the center of a hundred-square-meter platform. The site is surrounded by lush pines and clusters of cypress trees. The monument was built on July 6, 1973. Xu Jiapeng (1932–1953) was a native of Kantou Village, Jixi County. In May 1951, he joined the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The following June, he went to the front lines of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. In July 1953, during the counterattack battle at the northern hill of Shiyandong, he was assigned an assault mission. When confronted with enemy fire from a concealed bunker, he fearlessly charged forward, threw himself at the bunker, and used his body to block the enemy machine gun, paving the way to victory. After the battle, the headquarters of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army posthumously awarded him the Special-Class Merit and the title of “First-Class Combat Hero.” The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea honored him with the title of “Hero of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.”

Xu Jiapeng (1931–1953) was from Kantou Township, Jixi County.

During the land reform in 1950, he participated in struggle sessions against landlords and local tyrants, becoming one of the most active members in the village. During this period, he joined the militia and enthusiastically carried out all tasks assigned to him. Whenever it was his turn to stand guard, he always arrived early and left late, remaining at his post through wind, rain, snow, and night.
