Former Residence of Cheng Liangjun

Located at No. 38, Xichuan Village, Fuling Town, this is the former residence of the distinguished hydraulic machinery expert, Professor Cheng Liangjun, who was also a doctoral supervisor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The house faces west and was built in the mid-Qing Dynasty. It has a single-entry layout with two side wings, front and rear courtyards, a three-bay width, is a two-story building with a rammed earth floor. A plaque inscribed with “Duyi Hall” (Hall of Firm Righteousness) hangs in the main living area, while the front wall features the character “Hongxi” (Great Blessing). The lattice windows of the side rooms are adorned with carvings. The residence covers an area of 108 square meters. During the land reform period, the southern wing was allocated to two local families, making the property co-owned by three households. The house is well-preserved and, as the former home of a notable figure, holds significant cultural and historical value.

Xichuan Village: Xichuan Village is located in the eastern part of Fuling Town. In 2003, it was formed through the merger of the original Xichuan Village, Shangxi Village, and Tongkeng Village. It currently administers four villager groups, with 502 households and a population of 1,971. The village has a total of 1,149 mu of arable land and 17,849 mu of mountainous forest land. The Xichuan Village Party General Branch oversees three Party branches and one branch for retired members, with a total of 75 Party members as of the end of 2009. The village’s main industries include stone processing, and it has achieved a certain scale in walnut cultivation.
