The Xiatan Ancient Architectural Complex is a cultural heritage site protected by Jiashan County.

Xiatan Ancient Architectural Complex (including the Zou E New Residence, Zou Bolin Residence, and Xiatan Paper Mill)

Located in Xiatan Natural Village, Miaoshan Village, Banqiaotou Township, the complex includes the Zou E New Residence, Zou Bolin Residence, and Xiatan Paper Mill, all of which are relatively well-preserved. These buildings were once one of the bases of the Communist Party's Jing-Ji County Committee. In 1945, the Jing-Ji County Committee used this location as a base to conduct military operations and engage in mass work, leading guerrilla warfare. It holds significant cultural value for the study of Xiatan’s red revolutionary history.

The Zou E New Residence is situated in Xiatan Natural Village, Miaoshan Village, Banqiaotou Township. It faces south and covers an area of 90 square meters. The single-story building has three bays in a row, a triple-earth floor, a gable roof, and blue tiles, with no decorative carvings on the whole. The exterior walls are built with red bricks, and the right side was originally the kitchen, part of which has now collapsed. This residence was once used as living quarters by the Jing-Ji guerrilla team, and the open space in front of the house served as a training ground.

The Zou Bolin Residence is located in Xiatan Natural Village, Miaoshan Village, Banqiaotou Township. It also faces south, covers an area of 84 square meters, and is a single-story building with three bays in a row, a triple-earth floor, a gable roof, and blue tiles, featuring no ornamental details. The exterior walls are made of red mud, and the left side was the kitchen, part of which has partially collapsed. To the left of the kitchen is an auxiliary building covering 42 square meters. This residence was also once used by the Jing-Ji guerrilla team, and the open space at the entrance served as a training ground.

The Xiatan Paper Mill is located in Xiatan Natural Village, Miaoshan Village, Banqiaotou Township. It faces south, covers an area of 150 square meters, and is a two-story building with three bays in a row, a gable roof, and blue tiles. The exterior walls are built from mud. The left side was the kitchen, and the right side an auxiliary structure. At the back of the building, there is a stone trough with a diameter of about 2 meters. It was formerly a paper-making workshop, and the owner used the profits to support the revolutionary struggle. The open space in front of the mill was once used as a training ground by the Jing-Ji guerrilla team.

Miaoshan Village: Miaoshan Village in Banqiaotou Township is located in the southwestern part of the township, 29 kilometers from the county seat and 8 kilometers from the township government. It is one of the remote and impoverished villages in our county. The village consists of 18 natural villages, 4 villager groups, 396 households, a total population of 1,257, and 55 Communist Party members. The mountainous area covers 11.09 square kilometers, including 1,385 mu of paddy fields, 312 mu of dry land, 14,730 mu of forested hills, and 235 mu of water surfaces.
