Lu You Memorial Hall

Lu You Memorial Hall is located at No. 98, Hairen Lane, at the intersection of Yan’an Road in Hangzhou. It was here that Lu You wrote his world-renowned and immortal poem: "Spring Rain in Lin’an After Clearing."

No. 98 Hairen Lane is a well-known ancient residence from the Qing Dynasty. Although it is not Lu You’s former home, he stayed in Hairen Lane many times during his visits to Hangzhou, and No. 98 is the most historically faithful structure in the lane found so far.

The entire exhibition space is divided into two floors: the first floor serves as an exhibition hall, including sections dedicated to Lu You and historical literature; the second floor functions as a temporary exhibition area, mainly used for displaying materials and hosting academic seminars.

Lu You, courtesy name Wuguan, art name Fangweng, was a native of Shanyin in Yue Prefecture (present-day Shaoxing, Zhejiang). He began composing poetry and prose at the age of 12 and produced a vast body of work throughout his life, including dozens of surviving collections such as "Jiannan Poetry Manuscripts" and "Weinan Literary Collection." With over 9,000 poems to his name, he remains the Chinese poet with the largest extant poetic oeuvre. Lu You possessed diverse literary talents, excelling especially in poetry. Many of his works express fervent patriotism and heroic aspirations in resisting invaders, as well as deep hatred for enemies and traitors.
