China Umbrella Museum
The misty and rainy Jiangnan region has given rise to a unique umbrella culture. The aesthetics, poetry, and symbolic meanings of umbrellas have left a distinctive cultural trajectory alongside the wheel of history. The China Umbrella Museum is located in the Gongchenqiao West Historical and Cultural Block along the Hangzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is China’s first umbrella-themed museum, comprehensively showcasing umbrella culture, history, stories, craftsmanship, and art, with China as its representative. The permanent exhibition covers an area of 2,411 square meters and officially opened to the public on September 29, 2009.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00–16:00 (closed all day on Mondays)
