Wanshou Xigong

Category: Tourist Attractions 👁 100 views
Wanshou Xigong is located at No. A29, Baizhifang East Street, Xuanwu District, covering an area of 4.7 hectares. It is the first senior citizens' park in Beijing. Originally the site of a Guan Yu Temple from the Ming Dynasty, the park still retains some of the original temple structures and stone inscriptions. To preserve the ancient architectural style and reflect the characteristics of a senior park, the park has specifically developed scenic areas centered around these historic remains, such as the "Bamboo Garden" — a recreational center for seniors; the "Qinfang Garden" — a space for experiencing traditional Beijing culture and enjoying flowers and birds; and the "Health Grove" — an area designated for senior gateball games.

Wanshou Xigong is located at No. A29, Baizhifang East Street, Xuanwu District, covering an area of 4.7 hectares. It is the first senior citizens' park in Beijing.

Wanshou Xigong was originally the site of a Guan Yu Temple from the Ming Dynasty, and some of the original temple buildings and stone tablets still remain. To preserve the traditional architecture and highlight the features of a senior park, the park has created themed scenic areas focused on these historical structures, such as the "Bamboo Garden" — a recreational center for the elderly; the "Qinfang Garden" — a place to experience traditional Beijing culture and admire flowers and birds; and the "Health Grove" — a venue for senior gateball.

In addition, to emphasize the theme of wellness and recreation, the park has built two sets of antique-style memorial archways at its east and south entrances, featuring inscriptions on the back reading “Everlasting Joy and Health” and “Serene Twilight,” respectively. The park also features attractions such as the “Children’s Fun Zone,” an “Open-Air Dance Floor,” a “Spacious Lawn in the Woodland,” and an “Exercise Area.” Calligraphy masters have been invited to inscribe plaques and couplets for these spots, creating a rich cultural atmosphere throughout the park.
