Shaogang is named after the river that runs through it. The waterway between Lujia Bridge and Wufu Bridge is called Shaogang, and the streets on its northern and southern banks are accordingly referred to as South Shaogang Street, collectively known as Shaogang Street.

South Street is 222 meters long and 2–4 meters wide, while North Street is 256 meters long and 2–8 meters wide. On North Street stands the Church Temple, and beyond Wufu Bridge you’ll find the Fu Yuan Palace and the Dongyue Temple, which were once bustling with worshippers.

Cross Lujia Bridge and continue along South Street to reach Fenbang Alley.

The residences within Shaogang largely retain their Ming and Qing architectural styles. A gentle stream meanders through, with stone embankments inset with individual stone river docks.

Amidst the continuous rooftops, ancient alleys stretch from the river to the fields, with winding paths leading to serene spots. To the north of the stream are Gao Street, along with the Li Family’s Big Alley, Small Alley, and the Ni Family Alley. To the south lies Fenbang Alley.
