Xitang · Jiulongshan Coastal Tourist Area

The Jiulongshan Coastal Tourist Area is located on the northern shore of Hangzhou Bay, 90 kilometers from both Shanghai and Hangzhou, with the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway running through it. The scenic area combines mountains, sea, islands, and beaches, and is a provincial-level tourist resort. It features a forest park, a seaside bathing beach, the Golden Ocean City Seaside Resort, Waipu Mountain Island, and more. Among them, the Jiulongshan Forest Park is a national-level forest park. Up close, you’ll see lush pine trees and freely soaring birds; from afar, there are blue waves, open skies, fishing boats dotting the horizon, and an expansive sea and sky view.

Xisha Bay is the only continental shelf seaside bathing beach in Zhejiang. Its sand is clean and hard, historically known as “Iron Plate Sand.” Every peak summer, tourists from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Jiaxing, and Suzhou flock here, with up to over 20,000 swimmers received in a single day. As a result, the People’s Daily has called it the “Beidaihe of the South.” Nearby, there are the Nanshan Fort, Tianfei Palace Fort, the Hongyi Master Memorial Pavilion Wentao Pavilion, and the Haihong Pavilion, built to commemorate the 200th anniversary of “Dream of the Red Chamber” setting sail from here.

The Jiulongshan Scenic Area is located in Pinghu City, at the outlet of Hangzhou Bay, east of the “Oriental Great Port” of Zhapu. To the south is the sea, and to the north are the plains. With beautifully integrated landscapes, it offers natural scenery including green mountains, vast seas, secluded forests, and picturesque environments, as well as rich cultural attractions. The area is characterized by a complete set of mountains, sea, islands, and beaches, a mix of natural beauty and human landscapes, and a coexistence of modern projects and historical relics. In the past, it was known for sights such as the “Eight Scenes of Zhapu,” “Ten Scenes of Yashan,” and “Eight Scenes of Chenshan.” It is now listed as a national forest park by the Ministry of Forestry.

The town of Zhapu, where Jiulongshan is located, is said to be the birthplace of Empress Dowager Cixi, and some relics still remain today.

Xitang Town: Xitang, anciently known as Xietang. The town was established during the Ming Dynasty, bordering Yong’an and Qianshan townships, and was initially named Xietang before later being called Xitang. Legend has it that during the Spring and Autumn Period, Wu Zixu stationed troops in this county and dug the Wuzi Pond to develop water conservancy, channeling water from Xushan directly into the area, hence it is also called Xutang. Xitang Town is located in the northern part of Jiashan County, at the junction of three provinces and cities—Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai—and enjoys a superior geographical position, often referred to as the “Corner of Wu and Yue.” It is 90 kilometers east of Shanghai, 110 kilometers west of Hangzhou, 85 kilometers north of Suzhou, and 9 kilometers south of Jiashan County seat. The town center's geographical coordinates are 120°53′ east longitude and 30°56′ north latitude. With access to both land and water... More detailed information about Xitang Town ++
