Liren Port
Liren Port is located in the north of the town. During the Ming Dynasty, the imperial examination graduate and Minister of Rites Li Qizhen resided here. He named the place “Liren” (literally “neighborly virtue is beautiful”) after a phrase from an ancient text, and the port and the street share the same name. The western part of the street is Chunzuodai, extending east to the grain depot, with a total length of 673.5 meters and a width of 2 meters, reaching up to 6 meters at its widest point. Stone bridges were built across the north-south sections, each adorned with four stone lions, hence the name Lion Bridge. Fishing boats are all moored within the port, forming a vivid depiction of the scene described in the poem by Ming Dynasty poet Zhou Ding: “Homes lean on streamside sand, all are netting households, often hear the repair of old fences, everyone vies to set new rafts.”
