Numerous bridges connect the water town into a cohesive whole. Historically referred to as the “Nine Dragons Holding a Pearl” and “Winds from Eight Directions.” By 1998, the town had built a total of 104 bridges. Since the Song Dynasty, 11 bridges had been constructed in Xitang, including Anren Bridge, Anjing Bridge, Wufu Bridge, and Yongning Bridge. During the Qing Dynasty, additional bridges such as Wolong Bridge, Duchen Bridge, and Laifeng Bridge were built. Most of these ancient bridges are single-arch stone-pillar wooden-beam structures. The craftsmanship is exquisite, and they remain well-preserved to this day, offering high aesthetic value. They have long been praised as “dragons lying across the waves, rainbows soaring overhead.”
