It is an officially established postal outlet, not just a place that sells postcards, so all the postcards here come with 80-cent stamps. Xitang Town: Xitang, anciently known as Xietang. Established as a market town during the Ming Dynasty, it was originally named Xietang and later called Xitang, bordering Yong’an and Qianshan townships. Legend has it that during the Spring and Autumn Period, Wu Zixu stationed troops in the area and dug the Wuzitang canal to improve water conservancy, bringing water from Xushan directly into the region, hence it is also called Xutang. Xitang Town is situated in the northern part of Jiashan County, at the junction of Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces, boasting a prime geographical location often referred to as the “corner of Wu and Yue.” It lies 90 kilometers east of Shanghai, 110 kilometers west of Hangzhou, 85 kilometers north of Suzhou, and 9 kilometers south of Jiashan County’s urban center.
