Wei Tang Ye Residence
The Wei Tang Ye Residence is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang Province.
The Wei Tang Ye Residence is located at Lane 482, Zhongshan East Road, Rihui Community, Wei Tang Subdistrict. The businessman Ye Wenhuan, who ran an oil mill, accumulated wealth in the late Qing Dynasty to build the residence.
Commonly known as "Jiujiantou" (Nine Rooms), the Wei Tang Ye Residence covers an area of 1,437 square meters. It faces south with a north orientation and consists of a front shop section and a rear residential section, with a side lane on the west. The building has four courtyards in total, with a flush gable roof. The first section is a building with nine consecutive storefronts along the street; the second section is five bays wide, with the middle three forming a main hall and one wing room on each of the east and west sides; the third and fourth sections are two-story buildings, also five bays wide, featuring a covered corridor hall and a courtyard. The courtyard is paved with flagstones, and the beams and brackets are adorned with intricately carved woodwork.
The overall layout of the Wei Tang Ye Residence is intact. The entire building is tall and spacious, using robust materials and exhibiting exquisite craftsmanship. The wooden carvings are particularly refined, making it a rare and well-preserved late Qing Dynasty residence in Jiashan County.
In January 2011, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
