Andong Bridge

It is located at the north sluice of Shunliu Port in Andongqiao Natural Village, Tianning Village, Tianning Town. Originally built during the Qing Dynasty, it was reconstructed in the 1940s and the sluice was modified in the 1960s. In May 2010, it was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection site.

Andong Bridge covers an area of 46 square meters and is a single-arch stone slab flat bridge running east-west across Shunliu Port. The bridge is 17 meters long and 2.7 meters wide. The bridge body features two grooves that can serve as a simple sluice. It has solid railings and two pairs of pier columns. There are 11 steps on the eastern side and 16 steps on the western side. The bridge is well-preserved, and the design combining a simple sluice with a bridge is a first discovery in Jiashan, giving it certain cultural relics value.

Tianning Town: The ancient water town of Tianning is located in the northwest of Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province, within the Hangjiahu Plain and the hinterland of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Suzhou. It lies in the golden triangle of the Yangtze River Delta. It is 90 kilometers east of the international metropolis Shanghai, 110 kilometers west of the provincial capital Hangzhou, 60 kilometers north of the important city of Suzhou in southern Jiangsu, and 45 kilometers east of the major port of Zhapu. The Hongqi Pond flows through the town, linking the Huangpu River to the east and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to the west. The town covers a total area of 21.7 square kilometers with a population of 22,000.
