Era: Western Han Dynasty

Announcement Date: March 16, 2005

The Zhuxi Xiaofangyan Rock Paintings are situated on Xiaofangyan in the northeast corner of Zhuxi Town, Xianju County, at an altitude of 400 meters. Two relatively large sites have been discovered to date—one at the commonly known “Lion’s Ear” site, and another southeast of Yian Village, commonly referred to as “Below Xiaofangyan.” The total area is about 100 square meters, featuring over twenty types of carvings resembling birds, fish, humans, and horses. The style is archaic, with varying line thicknesses. Experts have identified these as works from the Western Han Dynasty, dating back approximately 2,000 years.

The discovery of these rock paintings holds significant academic value for the study of history, sociology, archaeology, and art history.
