Gongyu Terraces

Gongyu, a beautiful fairyland known as the "Last Shangri-La in East China," is surrounded by dramatic peaks, with their summits reaching around 1,000 meters above sea level. The village is nestled within these mountains, forming a small basin. For a long time, it remained little known, like a secluded utopia. Its volcanic rock landscape has given rise to many standalone stone pillars that stand majestically and imposingly. Though the overall scenery is rugged, it is softened by the terraces meticulously cultivated by the local people.

The terraces are located on Gongyubei, south of the village. Against the backdrop of the cliffs, the terraces layer one upon another, with the old village scattered among them. The two distinct landscapes blend harmoniously here, each exuding its own unique charm whether the weather is sunny or rainy. It is hailed as the "Shangri-La of East China" and the "home of the immortals."
