Dongmagan Site

The Dongmagan Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang Province.

The Dongmagan Site is located on the western side of Dongmagan Village, Qianjin Town, Nanxun District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Dating from the Neolithic to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, it is classified as an ancient site.

The site extends south to Banqiao Port, northwest to Tianwanli Village, and north to a large area of mulberry fields, covering a total area of 30,000 square meters. Surface-collected artifacts include stone tools and pottery shards, one of which is an intact stone chisel measuring 17 centimeters, now housed in the Huzhou Museum. Pottery types can be divided into sand-tempered pottery, clay pottery, and stamped hard pottery; identifiable vessel shapes among the collected pottery fragments include tripods, dou vessels, jars, and cauldrons. The main decorative patterns on stamped pottery include cord marks, mat patterns, zigzag lines, grid patterns, and thundercloud motifs.

In January 2017, the Dongmagan Site was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.

Dongmagan Village: Dongmagan Village is situated in the southwest of Qianjin Town, Nanxun District. It borders Paitang Port to the east, connects to Guan Town in Deqing County to the west, and lies adjacent to Yangxi Port to the south. The village comprises 20 villager groups, with 566 households and a farming population of 2,079. There are currently 16 natural villages in the area, totaling 543 households and a population of 2,009, covering a total area of 3.56 square kilometers. The village has one Party branch with 66 members and a village committee consisting of six cadres. In 2014, the village's collective economic income was approximately 370,000 yuan, and the per capita income of farmers reached 22,781 yuan.
