Zhongyuan Bridge

Zhongyuan Bridge is a Suzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Zhongyuan Bridge is located in Xinle Village, Qingdeng Village, Hushuguan Town, High-Tech District, Suzhou. The bridge spans Shituxiang Port (also known as Houhengzhai River) from north to south. It is 9.1 meters long in total, with a deck that is 4.48 meters long and 0.9 meters wide. The distance between the bridge deck and the water surface is 1.5 meters, and it was built during the Song Dynasty.

The entire bridge consists of the deck and foundation. The deck is arched and made from a single piece of Wukang stone. The sides are inscribed with the characters “众缘桥” (Zhongyuan Bridge), and the ends of the deck are adorned with exquisitely carved honeysuckle motifs. The pier stones are made of Wukang stone, while the rest of the structure is built from granite slabs and some bluestone blocks.

In 2009, Zhongyuan Bridge was listed by the municipal government as part of the sixth batch of Suzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Units.
