Qian Di Xian Neolithic Cultural Site

The Qian Di Xian Neolithic Cultural Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located in Qianxiang Village, Bailong Lane, Xieqiao Town, in the northern suburbs of Changshu City. In 1978, local farmers discovered primitive stone

tools, such as stone axes, and fragments of pottery while plowing the land, which drew the attention of local cultural heritage authorities. In 1983, after investigation and trial excavations by the Nanjing Museum, it was confirmed to be a Neolithic site. In 1988, the Changshu Municipal Cultural Relics Management Committee and the History Department of Nanjing University jointly conducted preliminary excavations at the site, unearthing 200 artifacts including stone tools, ceramics, jade objects, and bronze ware, along with a number of cultural relics. Archaeological experts have determined that this site dates back over 5,500 years, and features a large area (approximately 70,000 square meters), rich cultural remains, and a long period of continuity, belonging to the Songze culture type.

The Qian Di Xian Neolithic Cultural Site is the largest and earliest ancient cultural site discovered in Changshu. Currently, a protected area has been designated here, making it a great destination for heritage tourism.
