Changshu Museum

Located at the foot of Yushan Mountain in the picturesque ancient city, adjacent to the tombs of the revered ancient sages Zhongyong and Yanzi. Covering an area of over 6,000 square meters, it consists of seven exhibition halls, cultural relics storage rooms, office buildings, and auxiliary facilities. Officially opened on September 28, 1997, it is a history and art museum that integrates functions such as collection, research, exhibition, and education.

The museum houses a collection of over 11,000 cultural relics dating from more than 5,000 years ago, including those from the Songze and Liangzhu cultures, to the period of the New Democratic Revolution. The collection mainly focuses on three categories: paintings and calligraphy, ceramics, and jade artifacts. Among them, 155 pieces of calligraphy and painting are included in the "Catalogue of Ancient Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy." Liangzhu culture jade artifacts, Six Dynasties celadon, and Ming Dynasty official kiln porcelain have been successively selected for the second and third "Exhibition of Essence of Chinese Cultural Relics" organized by the state and have been cataloged.

In recent years, domestic publications such as the "Complete Collection of Fine Arts," "Liangzhu Jade Artifacts," "Paintings of the Four Wangs," "Calligraphy and Paintings of Wu Changshuo," "Illustrated Catalog of Chinese Astronomical Relics," "Illustrated Catalog of Relics from the Early Spread of Buddhism to Southern China," and "Art of the Six Dynasties" have all featured collections from this museum.

In addition, albums showcasing the museum’s finest collections of paintings, calligraphy, and seals—such as "Collected Paintings of Changshu Museum," "Collected Calligraphy of Changshu Museum," and "Collected Seals of Changshu Museum"—have been published by Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House, Cultural Relics Publishing House, and People's Fine Arts Publishing House. The museum also publishes an academic quarterly journal, "Changshu Cultural Relics and Museology," which has been in continuous publication for seven years, focusing on promoting local history and popularizing knowledge about cultural relics.

Yushan Subdistrict: The Yushan Subdistrict of Changshu City covers an area of 62.7 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 207,000, including 137,000 registered residents. Yushan Subdistrict is positioned as the core area for all-for-one tourism, integrating mountains, water, and the city.

The Jiangsu Provincial Government (Document No. Su Zheng Fu [2017] 103) and the Suzhou Municipal Government (Document No. Su Fu Fu [2017] 62) have recently issued approvals regarding the adjustment of the administrative divisions of Yushan Town, Changshu City.
