Weimo Mountain Villa

Weimo Mountain Villa is located at the foot of Ruomao Peak in Yushan. It was originally built during the Longxing era of the Song Dynasty and was called Shiwu Weimo Hermitage. During the Chunxi era, it was bestowed the name “Xianqin Zifu Chan Yuan” (Monastery for Honoring Kin and Blessing All), and in the Xuande era of the Ming Dynasty, it was known as Weimo Temple. The site underwent multiple cycles of rise and decline. During the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, Qu Chenglin constructed the Wanghai Tower. In 1985, it was renovated and renamed Weimo Mountain Villa.

The current villa grounds feature scenic sites such as Yongquan Spring, Gourd Pond, Bowlspring, Jinsu Hall, Wanghai Tower, Wangyan (Cliff Viewing Point), Wanghu Pavilion (Lake-Viewing Pavilion), and Jingyuan Pavilion (Tranquil Retreat Pavilion), with stone steps leading to Shiwu Stream. In early spring, visitors can tread on snow to admire plum blossoms; in golden autumn, they can enjoy tea while appreciating osmanthus blossoms, leaving a fragrant memory. On clear, bright days, climbing to the Wanghai Tower offers a view northward where the river winds like a ribbon, massive ships emit plumes of smoke, and Langshan Mountain stands vividly in sight. Especially at sunrise, when the sea of clouds stretches boundlessly and the morning light bursts forth in radiant beams, the panorama is truly breathtaking and a remarkable spectacle.
