Sha Family Marsh Revolutionary Tradition Education Hall

The Sha Family Marsh Revolutionary Tradition Education Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Located by Yangcheng Lake, Sha Family Marsh was a guerrilla base behind enemy lines led by the Party during the War of Resistance Against Japan. At that time, the New Fourth Army and local anti-Japanese forces, with the support and cooperation of the people, bravely fought against the Japanese invaders and puppet reactionary forces, striking fear into the hearts of the enemy. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Shanghai opera "Ludang Fire Seeds" and the Peking opera "Sha Family Marsh" were widely performed across the country. To commend the great achievements of the New Fourth Army in persisting in the resistance war in the eastern region and to carry out revolutionary tradition education, the hall was established in 1988. It has since undergone reconstruction, expansion, and updates to its exhibits.

The hall is located on the west side of the Memorial Square. It currently covers an area of 1,300 square meters, with 700 square meters of exhibition panels, over 600 photos, and more than 50 revolutionary relics. Through richly detailed textual content and well-documented displays, it is divided into five sections that recreate the heroic deeds of the New Fourth Army in the Yangcheng Lake area during that period, as well as the new look of Sha Family Marsh today. The exhibition also employs modern multimedia display cases, restored scenes, granite reliefs, and other methods, combining motion and stillness, two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality, art and science to enhance the educational impact.

The hall is one of the most representative New Fourth Army memorial museums in southern Jiangsu. Since its opening, it has received over 500,000 visitors and has been listed as a provincial school moral education base, a Suzhou patriotic education base, and more.
