Tomb of Yan Tianchi

The Tomb of Yan Tianchi is a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Tomb of Yan Tianchi is located at the northwest corner of Duantoubang in Yuanyi Village, Yushan Town. The tomb faces west and covers an area of approximately 138 square meters. The earthen mound has a diameter of 4 meters and a height of 1.5 meters, surrounded by an enclosing wall. The tomb passage is 11.5 meters long, with a guqin-shaped granite stele erected in the middle in 1938 by over 20 members of the "Jinyu Qin Society," including Zha Fuxi, Wu Jinglue, and Zhang Zhiqian, inscribed with the text "Tomb Stele of Master Yan Tianchi, the Qin Sage of the Ming Dynasty." The original tomb included stone statues of officials and animals, as well as a ceremonial hall, all of which have been destroyed. It was restored in 1985. According to the "Yan Family Genealogy," "Yan Tianchi once selected his burial site at Maoshan during his lifetime, but later generations, considering the long distance for ancestral worship, chose to bury him at the current location." Yan Tianchi (1574–1627), whose name was ???Panfeiyu?Qi?Ke?yao?yuan?, served as an official in the Ministry of Rites. He was from Changshu and was the author of "Shenqi Mipu." He was posthumously honored with the title "Master of Qin of the Cloud Forest Pavilion." In December 1985, it was announced as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit.

On December 19, 2011, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province designated it as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in the seventh batch.
