Yinyuan Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou City.

Yinyuan Hall

It is located at No. 25 and No. 27 Jiaotong Street in the urban area. There are two surviving buildings, both facing east and situated side by side to the west. The total width spans five bays, measuring 15 meters, with a total depth of 8.2 meters and a ridge height of 5.1 meters. The wooden structure features dougong brackets and bracket arms, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. The interior is exquisitely decorated. The beams and arches on the front eaves of the hall’s main room are adorned with intricately carved floral patterns and mythological motifs, demonstrating refined artistry. According to local accounts, the No. 27 hall was once named “Yinyuan Hall.” In November 1982, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Changshu City, based on the records from the 1980s ancient architecture survey of Yushan Town: “Judging by the structure of the building, it is a Ming Dynasty residence that once belonged to the Shen family.”
