Li's Charitable Manor is a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou.

Li's Charitable Manor

Located at No. 7 Hengtou Street, East Gate, in the urban area, it was built during the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty by local resident Li Fangnian and was renovated in 1987. The existing structure consists of three courtyards, covering an area of approximately 754 square meters. The first courtyard serves as the entrance building, featuring a flush-gable roof and a brick-carved gate. The main hall faces south and sits on a north-south axis. It has a flush-gable roof, a brick-and-timber structure, and a post-and-lintel system. It spans five bays and seven rafters, with a total width of 16.4 meters, a total depth of 11.9 meters, and a height of 6.1 meters. The beams are flat-cut, using robust materials, and feature bracket sets, with fireproof walls on the exterior. The third courtyard includes a two-story rear hall building, also spanning five bays and seven rafters, with a total width of 17.2 meters and a total depth of 7.7 meters. It is equipped with an enclosed corridor forming a semi-rotunda layout, along with brick-carved bas-reliefs and other decorative elements. The overall structure of the building is well-preserved and is relatively large in scale. It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Changshu City in November 1982.
