Flute at Moonlit Tower is located at No. 13, Xicangqian Xiatang, in the urban area. It was a place where Shen Shiyu, a renowned collector from Changshu in the late Qing Dynasty, stored cultural relics and hosted gatherings with friends. Shen was a close friend of the famous calligrapher and painter Wu Changshuo, and the two often feasted together through the night in the tower. The tower houses over a hundred ancient and famous inkstones, many of which were inscribed by Wu. The epigraphist Zhao Shi also once engraved inkstones for Shen Shiyu in this tower for several years. The building has two stories, faces south, and features a hip-and-gable roof. It spans a total width of 8.4 meters across three bays and has a depth of 8.9 meters, with the upper eaves rising to 5.9 meters. The upper floor is fitted with floor-to-ceiling lattice windows and granite column bases. It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Changshu City in November 1982.
