Xianghua Bridge

Xianghua Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

Xianghua Bridge

Located on Fushui Rock of Jinfeng (commonly known as Zushi Mountain) in Yushan, spanning the Fushui Stream. It was funded and built in the 17th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1891) by Daoji, the abbot of Canghai Temple. The single-arch bridge is constructed of granite, runs from north to south, has a rise of 1.6 meters, a central width of 3.25 meters, and a total length of 8.5 meters. There are 16 steps on either side, and the east and west vertical pillars each bear a couplet. The eastern one reads: “The bow-shaped shadow soars above, connecting myriad valleys; the famed blossoms uniquely perfume through layered gates.” The western one reads: “The duck-like stones are lined up as clouds and mist appear and vanish; the rainbow-like arch lies low while springs and rocks rush forth.” It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Changshu City in November 1982.

On June 5, 2006, Xianghua Bridge was announced as part of the sixth batch of cultural relic protection units of Jiangsu Province.
