Former Residence of Zeng Pu

Located at No. 94 Shantangjing’an in the urban area, it was the home of Zeng Zhizhuan and Zeng Pu. It is a Qing Dynasty–era building, facing south with a flush gable roof, and features a brick-and-wood structure. Currently, two courtyards remain, with a total floor area of over 400 square meters. The first courtyard is a two-story small building, measuring 18.1 meters in width and 8.8 meters in depth. Behind it is a brick-carved gate tower with exquisite craftsmanship. The second courtyard is a single-story building, measuring 12 meters in width and 11.8 meters in depth. The overall architectural structure is largely well-preserved. Zeng Pu (1872–1935), also known as Xiaomu, with the courtesy name Mengpu and pen names such as "The Sick Man of East Asia," was a late Qing Dynasty literary figure and translator. He authored novels such as Niehaihua (The Sea of Regret) and translated French literary works. It was designated as a Changshu Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit in June 2004.
