Located at No. 2 Xuxi Street. The "Popular Newspaper" was a mimeographed publication openly distributed by the CPC's Special Committee of the Southern Jiangsu East Route during the temporary downturn in the anti-Japanese resistance in southern Jiangsu, following the westward withdrawal of the "Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Forces." Its purpose was to break through the news blockade imposed by the Japanese puppet regime in the occupied areas of Suzhou and Changzhou and to strengthen propaganda for the anti-Japanese salvation movement. On February 8, 1940, the first issue of the eight-page mimeographed "Popular Newspaper" was published here. The "Popular Newspaper" was hailed as the trumpet of the anti-Japanese resistance in the enemy-occupied areas of the East Route. It holds significant historical value for the study of the modern newspaper history of Changshu and the propaganda history of the War of Resistance against Japan. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit in June 2011.
