Changshu Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

It is situated at the foot of Taoyuan Stream on the eastern slope of Yu Mountain. Its foundation was laid in 1984, and it was completed and opened to the public on Tomb-Sweeping Day in 1988. The cemetery covers an area of 70 mu. The gatehouse bears an inscription by General Ye Fei that reads “Martyrs’ Spirit Lives On.” Upon entering, visitors cross parallel stone arch bridges to reach the memorial square. In the square stands a monument inscribed with the words “Eternal Glory to Revolutionary Martyrs.” The monument is made of reinforced concrete with a granite facade and stands 11.7 meters tall. Behind the monument is a symbolic large-scale collective martyrs’ tomb. Further back lies the martyrs’ tomb area, where 12 tombs are arranged in four rows. On the northern side of the cemetery is a revolutionary martyrs’ memorial hall built in a traditional ethnic architectural style, with a roof covered in glazed tiles. This cemetery was designated as a municipal cultural relics protection unit on August 31, 1989.
