Nanjing Pukou Railway Station

Also known as Nanjing North Railway Station, Nanjing Pukou Railway Station is a section station under the Shanghai Railway Bureau and a first-class directly affiliated station of the Nanjing Railway Sub-bureau. It was opened to traffic in 1911. The station is situated on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Nanjing, linked to the Ninglian and Ningtong expressways, as well as National Highways 312 and 104, and is adjacent to the Second and Third Companies of Nanjing Port, offering very convenient water and land transportation.

In modern Chinese history, Pukou Railway Station is a place name that frequently appears. Events such as the assassination of Song Jiaoren, the arrival of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s coffin in Nanjing, the launch of the People's Liberation Army’s Yangtze River Crossing Campaign, and scenes from Zhu Ziqing’s "The Back" all took place here. With its unique Republican-era characteristics, it embodies profound historical significance from that period. In recent years, it has gradually become an important filming location for movies and TV dramas set in the Republican era. Popular series like "Romance in the Rain" and major productions such as "The National Anthem" have filmed numerous scenes here.

The freight and passenger workshop, Puzhen Station, Meiguiying Station, Lincang Station, Yongningzhen Station, and Dongge Station under the station’s jurisdiction, along with the Economic Development Company and the Transport and Trade Company, all handle cargo transportation. They mainly manage full truckload, less-than-truckload, and container cargo shipments to various parts of the country, as well as water-land and road-rail intermodal transport, with an annual dispatch volume of 3.5 million tons and a receiving volume of 13.5 million tons. Among them, the Sanmin Operation Area serves as a coal transshipment hub in East China, handling 6 million tons of coal annually. Puzhen and Meiguiying Stations primarily serve large enterprises such as Nangang Group, Nanhua Group, and Yangzi Petrochemical.

In May 2013, the State Council (State Issue [2013] No. 13) announced Nanjing Pukou Railway Station as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
