Liuhe Well in Pukou

Liuhe Well in Pukou is a cultural relic protection unit of Pukou District.

Liuhe Well [Pukou District, Taishan Subdistrict Office, Changbomen Neighborhood Committee, within the former No. 124 compound on Dongmen Zuosuo Street · Qing Dynasty · District-level Cultural Relics Protection Unit] This well was originally a five-generation family heirloom of the Jin Wanfu household. The hexagonal bluestone well curb has sides each 0.35 meters long, a wall thickness of 0.10 meters, and a height of 0.5 meters. The six faces of the well curb are carved with floral patterns such as bamboo, chrysanthemum, and orchid, all intricately rendered with clear and lifelike lines. The well was originally located within the compound at No. 124 Zuosuo Street. After the liberation, the property of the No. 124 compound became state-owned under the grain department. When the grain management office and grain station ceased operations, the second and third courtyards of the compound were left vacant and fell into disrepair. In 2010, the property underwent renovation and was rented out for residential use. However, the original small tiles were replaced, and the well platform was rebuilt. In 2012, during the construction of a drainage culvert leading to the Zhujiashan River, the No. 124 compound was demolished, but the Liuhe Well remained undamaged. It was designated as a district-level cultural relics protection unit in 1983.
